Benefits of Singing

So, for today’s fun fact, I’m going to share with you some benefits of singing you probably don’t know about. Learning how to sing will help you sound better and help build confidence, performance skills etc, but there’s an INSANE amount of health benefits from singing that no one really talks about! Your health is definitely an important part of your life. Imagine if you could improve your health little by little just by participating in musical activities. Let’s break down our fact for today and go into further explanation.


Did you know singing can reduce stress and improve your overall mood? When your stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol which can affect your mood, cause anxiety and even decline the efficiency of your immune system! Singing actually helps decrease the amount of cortisol in your body and can relieve stress tensions throughout your body which helps you to feel more relaxed! Pretty cool right? Singing can also release endorphins which is a chemical in your body that brings on happiness and can even help relieve pain! If music and singing makes you feel better, keep doing it! Your brain will produce even more endorphins when you actively take part in creating music!


Your Immune system helps your body fight infections, bacteria, viruses etc. Did you know that studies have shown a significant increase in immunoglobulin which is an antibody that helps your body fight diseases after just one hour of singing? The studies continued to see if listening to music had the same affects. Just listening to music didn’t change their levels at all. Actual singing is the key! How cool is that?!
